–––– CAPABILITY AND WORKFORCE
Turning smart people into sustained growth capability
A private mid-sized, family-owned business delivering consulting services and sovereign technology to the defence sector.
Brief/Problem
Undertaking rapid growth with a runway that would see the company stretch well beyond its prior baseline of revenue and people, SYPAQ was looking for support to uplift its capability in preparation for the business it was about to become.
The Hyfen Approach
Hyfen reviewed the business holistically to map out its current and future operating model, identifying hot-spots in the model as areas of potential that required investment and growth. Having undertaken this review, Hyfen assessed capability and readiness for change in the corporate team and the information systems consulting team, then coached the senior leadership team on a balanced development and growth plan, aligned to the business’s future. Hyfen developed a workforce strategy for the innovation arm of the business, and a leadership development program for its emerging leaders.
Result
SYPAQ now has the blueprint for its future capability building activity. Supporting the hire and onboarding of a new role leading People, Culture and Capability, Hyfen helped to reset the function and provided the team with the strategic tools to implement change over the coming years. This has given SYPAQ the scaffolding it needed to mature, grow and one day take on capital investment.
“We're an innovation company at heart. Kirstin came and worked with us at a time of unprecedented growth and opportunity. First, she mapped our operating model – not simply from a functional perspective, but from a cultural and brand perspective which is where we generate so much of our competitive advantage. Then she showed me and my leadership team how to take gentle steps to ready ourselves for what was coming. Hyfen zeroed in on the capability, leadership and workforce strategies that would make the most difference and then worked with us at a pace of change that we could absorb.”
